A Challenge to Creationists

Keep in mind there are many more problems other than these listed for creationism. I’m listing only a select few.

1. Explain vestigial organs and dormant genes and show how they coincide with Creationism.

2. The Geological layers of the earth perfectly represent a time line of evolution and we have never found any fossils out of place. (We don’t find bunnies in the Precambrian period)(We don’t find human fossils mixed with dinosaur fossils.) Explain this according to creationism.

3. Explain transitional fossils without denying them.

4. Show how we can take steps without it ever amounting to a mile. In other words, produce scientific evidence that there are limits, or restrictions, on how far a life form can adapt.

5. Show how Creationism or Intelligent Design passes the scientific method.

"Life couldn't have formed by random chance"

Chemistry is not random chance nor is Biology.

First of all nobody is claiming that life started out complex. In the beginning it was extremely simple. Life started slow and Self-replicators were made, which can be incredibly simple, as simple as a strand of six DNA nucleotides. This is simple enough to form via organic chemistry. Self-replication sets the stage for evolution to begin, whether or not you call these Self-replicators "life."

While evolution via natural selection currently suggests that random mutation in the genome is the source of variation, the driving forces behind selection are decidedly not random. In fact, Natural Selection is the complete opposite of random chance.

The Mount Improbable analogy gives a good explanation of how Evolution creates complexity. Mount Improbable has two sides, one being a gradual slope and the other being a sheer cliff. The peak of this mountain symbolizes complexity or a complex organ, such as the eye. Evolution does not get to complexity by jumping up the cliff wall; it does by walking up a gradual, easy slope, from simplicity to complexity.

"We haven't found any transitional fossils"

This claim is simply out of pure lack of knowledge of Evolution (as are most creationist claims). Unfortunately, for these deniers of Evolution, ignorance of these fossils doesn’t mean they don’t exist.

If you explore this next link you will see that there are actually quite a few transitional fossils that we have found. Keep in mind this is only for Vertebrates. It also gives a solid explanation to why you don’t often hear about these transitional forms.

The Absurdity of Denying Macroevolution

The definition of speciation: The evolutionary process by which new biological species arise.

Most who deny evolution, more specifically deny the transition from one species to another. They claim it hasn’t been observed. While that may be true in Cinderella land, here in reality we have observed it rather frequently.

http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/faq-speciation.html

Not to mention we have massive evidence of Macroevolution both in DNA and in the fossil record. To say that an observation must be made using only the human senses is to insult both science and reason. We can make observations using modern technology, contrary to what the Creationists think. Then again, since their thinking is on par with a Stone Age Neanderthal, who can blame them? (Although they would earnestly dispute that fact)

There are Creationists who believe in Microevolution where life forms can only adapt within a set range. They assert this based on no scientific knowledge. They claim that Evolution isn’t supported by the facts yet they are willing to have a double standard whenever the assertion favors their side.

Believing life adapts, but cannot turn into another biological species, is similar to believing that you can take a step but, no matter how many you take, you will never walk a mile. This is obviously absurd and so is denying Macroevolution.

Putting Things into Perspective

Evolution has undergone intense scrutiny for over 150 years since it was first introduced. These critics were comprised of the world's most elite scientists, the best and brightest minds in the world. 99.98% of Biologists with PhD's accept evolution as scientific fact. To put this into perspective, there are four times as many historians who deny the holocaust.

By denying Evolution you are suggesting one of two things. Either you think;

A) You are more qualified than some of the world’s leading experts

B) Or you think there is a huge conspiracy out to destroy Creationism.

Either way you’re an idiot or brainwashed.

Here are just a few of the fields of science that support Evolution; Geophysics, Geochemistry, Phylogenetic Systematics, Computational Biology, Developmental Biology, Ecology Archaeology, Anthropology Geology, Paleontology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Embryology, Biogeography, Evolutionary Psychology, Cell Biology, Comparative Anatomy, Physiology, Neuroscience. Would you like to know the number of sciences that support Creationism? The answer is zero. So who are you going to believe; the collected intelligence of the smartest people on the planet or some whiny religious zealot who is angry because reality contradicts his narrow interpretation of an ancient compilation of desert scribblings called the bible?
